UpDate

Hello Everyone! Today (Monday) has gone pretty well but it really does feel like a Monday to me! I just have no energy and just feel blah! I did get up and go running (not easy to do on a Monday) this morning and I am glad I got that out of the way! Me and the kids went to eat lunch with Paul at Olive Garden and then I went shopping at Wal-Mart and I thought I was going to fall asleep standing up! Maybe it was because I went to Wal-Mart and not Target. LOL! JK!

We had a great weekend! We went to San Antonio and stayed in a cabin at a KOA (Kampgrounds Of America). I have been going to this KOA since I was like 2 and now we take our kids there! It is a great KOA with lots of things for the kids to do, swim, ride bikes, playground, ice cream shop, ect. One day we went to Splash Town which is a water park right by the KOA. It is a small park but has enough of the rides that the kids had a blast. It also is not as crowded as the bigger parks which makes it even better! No Lines!!! We also went to the Alamo. Kyler loved the Alamo. I mean LOVED it!! They had learned about it in school this past year so I guess he thought it was cool to be there. We also went to the Mexican Market and ate Mexican Food (the best!) and shopped till we dropped! It was a lot of fun! We love San Anton!! One of our favorite getaways! I will post pictures later!

One last note...Every year the cf foundation does a cf walk to raise money for a cure and this past year we did not walk but sponsored someone who's family was walking, The Palmer Family. Sadly this past Friday their daughter Haley lost her battle with cf. She was 12. We are very sadden by this news and had been following her story. If you have a moment today please send out a prayer for her family and friends. You can also read her story here...

Thank you!

I will post pictures later!

tacos it is only 347 calories!! It was pretty easy and quick to make!! I really love this book
because it has lots and lots of ideas and I can easily stay in my 800 to 1000 calorie diet!! Thanks

Kid Movie

We saw Kung Fu Panda the other day and it was really good! Some kid movie's are really good others the kids only like them so it is a real treat for the adults to also be entertained! Not only did I think it was a good movie but it also had life lessons in it!! I want to see the movie again and take a pen and paper with me to make sure I write down all the lessons I learned from it! So if you are on the fence about seeing that movie, I thought it was really good!!

Update

Hello, Well I have continued to eat at home this week and can really feel the difference in my clothes! I have lost 1/2 a pound but in the past these last few pounds have always been tough to get rid of. I started running in the mornings before Paul goes to work to get my workout over with for the day. Sometimes something fun will come up at night and I won't workout so when I workout in the mornings it gets my workout in no matter what! I am not a morning person at all so the running is tougher but well worth it! Even though I am eating at home I still have to count calories. When I want to lose weight I have to eat about 800 to 1000 calories a day and once I have lost all my weight I usually need to stay around 1100 to 1200 a day to not gain any back. I got the Hungry Girl book yesterday and she has a lot of ideas that will really help with the 800 to 1000! Also I got the book Eat This Not That book to help for when we do eat out.

Zinger has been doing great this week! He acts like nothing ever happened to him. I figured he would be sore from the surgery when he got home but he didn't act like it! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for him!! Kids are having fun so far for the summer! Lots of swimming and playing outside! Kyler keeps coming up with a list of toys he wants like it is Christmas!! A little too much time on his hands! LOL! Hope everyone is having a good week so far!!

Wind and a bird

Last week when the wind was blowing a 100mph and I went to run I remembered a story
one of my college professors told the class. The story has stuck with me and the more I live
the more I see how true it is. So I will tell it here and now the best that I can. It involves a bird but I can't remember what kind of bird...it was a big bird like a hawk, eagle, something like that so anyway we will say a Eagle (although I don't think it was an Eagle because I googled it and it didn't have this info on it but we will still use this bird)

So the story goes from what I remember....The Eagle makes a nest in a tree and from there he will hunt for food and stay until the wind starts to blow hard. When the wind blows hard the Eagle must go where the wind will take him until the wind dies down and then he will make a new nest and home. If the Eagle tried to fight the wind to stay where he had already made his home he would die. The wind would be too strong for him to fight and he would spend all his time flying against the wind. So instinctively when the wind picks up the Eagle does not fight it but goes with it. The wind of change so to speak. When you live in this world, people have their own kind of wind of change. You can do two things...you go fight it as hard as you can to stay right where you are at or you can go with the wind and see where it takes you. Although we will not die if we fight it to stay where we are we are sure to miss out on opportunity that will never come our way again. No matter how hard you try you cannot stop the wind.

I remember not really understanding that story when my teacher told it. At least not to the degree I do today. Two years ago when we lived in the Dallas area and my husband got a job in the Austin area, I didn't want to move. I fought it tooth and nail. We tried commuting. That was horrible. Finally I agreed to move but was pretty negative about every house we looked at. Obviously, I was not remembering this story at the time! But finally I did have a wake up call and realized I was making things a lot harder than they had to be and started to go with the flow. My wake up call...one day looking at all the houses to buy my husband asked my 7 son which one he liked and he said he didn't care as long as we all lived there. Wow! It would take my 7 son to make me wake up! So after that things started to flow and our house sold in Dallas and we found a beautiful home in Austin with a gorgeous view from our backyard!! Every morning when I wake up and look out the back I promise myself I will never take the view for granted! And to think I almost missed out on this experience trying to stay in one place!! Who knows where the wind will take us next but it will be ok if it is here forever or some place new because I know if there is a next place it will be even more beautiful than here. Here is a pic of our view that I see everyday! Can't believe I fought this!!

This weekend was a great weekend! We had a lot of fun at my best friend's child's Bday party on Sat. It was a party at a neighborhood swimming pool and wouldn't you know it ...I forgot the camera. The pool had a small waterslide for the bigger kids and a couple of kiddie slides for the littler kids. They also had a beach like pool that Jade had a blast in! There were so many cute shots I could of taken so I was really kicking myself for not having the camera. It was a really great party and it was really good to see Leanne!!

We had a blast on Sun at the Guadalupe River!!! We did the 4 hour float down the river on inner tubes and it was just so much fun! I thought it was a lot more fun this time then when I did it in high school. Guess you appreciate being able to just float for 4 hours without having to do anything after having kids then in high school. We didn't take the camera with us down the river so we got a couple of pic before we got on the river and then took a picture at the Mexican Food restaurant we stopped at on our way home from the river. We all had so much fun we want to do it again real soon (like as soon as we can all get sitters again! LOL) and we want to do the 6 our float next time!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

I was wondering where all the tomatoes went! Now I know!

Tainted tomatoes cause stores and restaurants to take precautions

Article tools

You can have it your way -- as long as you prefer your fast food sandwiches and summer salads without certain types of tomatoes.

Stores and restaurants across the region are withholding tomatoes from consumers because at least 145 people across the country, but none in Pennsylvania, have been sickened by an outbreak of salmonella-tainted tomatoes.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration over the weekend expanded a warning about tainted roma, plum and round red tomatoes. Tomatoes on the vine, cherry and grape tomatoes and home-grown tomatoes are safe to eat, the FDA said.

Washing potentially affected tomatoes likely will not eliminate the risk, the FDA said. If consumers are unsure of the safety of their food, they should contact their retailer or discard the food.

What's Going On This Weekend

So Zinger is on his way home! Yea! We have a swim party we are going to for my best friend's kids today. I will try and get pictures. Me and my best friend became friends when we were in 5th grade. She moved to Austin half way through our 7th grade year ( we both lived in Amarillo at the time) but we always kept in touch and visited each other every year and now we are in the same town! How cool is that to still be friends after 100 years? Luckily we still look the same even after 100 years except well I guess we are taller and have better hair styles. :) Then tomorrow my sister is going to babysit for us and we are going to float the Guadalupe River with our neighbors/friends! I am really looking forward to that!! I have not done that since highschool! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
