Rougar

And to keep with the cat theme here is a picture of our 3rd cat named Rougar. He looks a lot like Zinger but they are not related although we did get him the same time we got Zinger. Yes I know....I look like a crazy cat lady but actually I am just a crazy animal person!!

When we went to the spca to get a cat 11 years ago we went to get one. Well they had sooooo many kittens they were giving two kittens for the price of one (adoption fee) and we felt really bad because they really had a TON of cats at the time so we figured at least if there were two they would always have each other and one would not be lonely. So we got Rougar and Zinger.

Three years later my husband saw Cinder on a sidewalk of a very very busy street. He pulled over (she was just a kitten) and it was so hot outside she was stuck to the sidewalk! The sidewalk had burned off all the hair on her belly. We took her to the vet and the vet didn't think she would make it through the night. Well she did. We tried to find her a home but no one was in the market for a kitty at the time. It was their loss because she is the sweetest cat ever!

So that is the story of how we got 3 cats!

Update

Hello, Well I have continued to eat at home this week and can really feel the difference in my clothes! I have lost 1/2 a pound but in the past these last few pounds have always been tough to get rid of. I started running in the mornings before Paul goes to work to get my workout over with for the day. Sometimes something fun will come up at night and I won't workout so when I workout in the mornings it gets my workout in no matter what! I am not a morning person at all so the running is tougher but well worth it! Even though I am eating at home I still have to count calories. When I want to lose weight I have to eat about 800 to 1000 calories a day and once I have lost all my weight I usually need to stay around 1100 to 1200 a day to not gain any back. I got the Hungry Girl book yesterday and she has a lot of ideas that will really help with the 800 to 1000! Also I got the book Eat This Not That book to help for when we do eat out.

Zinger has been doing great this week! He acts like nothing ever happened to him. I figured he would be sore from the surgery when he got home but he didn't act like it! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for him!! Kids are having fun so far for the summer! Lots of swimming and playing outside! Kyler keeps coming up with a list of toys he wants like it is Christmas!! A little too much time on his hands! LOL! Hope everyone is having a good week so far!!

What's Going On This Weekend

So Zinger is on his way home! Yea! We have a swim party we are going to for my best friend's kids today. I will try and get pictures. Me and my best friend became friends when we were in 5th grade. She moved to Austin half way through our 7th grade year ( we both lived in Amarillo at the time) but we always kept in touch and visited each other every year and now we are in the same town! How cool is that to still be friends after 100 years? Luckily we still look the same even after 100 years except well I guess we are taller and have better hair styles. :) Then tomorrow my sister is going to babysit for us and we are going to float the Guadalupe River with our neighbors/friends! I am really looking forward to that!! I have not done that since highschool! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Update on Zinger!

The Vet called this morning and said that he just couldn't sleep all night
because he kept thinking about Zinger and how he could try to get the stone
back into his bladder so he wouldn't have to do that other surgery with the
Specialist (that surgery would basically be having to make that area into
a girl from a boy) and so he tried one more time this morning and was able
to get the stone back into the bladder!!! Yea!!! So he was able to go back into
the bladder and get the stone out so now Zinger does not have to have the
other surgery and he gets to come home tomorrow!! It was wonderful news
not only for Zinger's sake but also for our checking account!! This stuff is not
cheap!! So now we just have to pray that he won't get any more stones. If he keeps
getting them then we may have to have that other surgery because the stones can
pass that way but they are putting him on new food that is suppose to help prevent
stones so we will have our fingers crossed and just keep sending out prayers that
Zinger will be healthy and stone free from now on!! Thanks to all those that sent out
a little prayer for us...it worked!!!

Picture of my Cats

Here is a picture of my other two cats. The one on the left is
Rougar and the one on the right with his eyes closed is Zinger.
We also have a cat named Cinder. (There is a pic of her in another
post under Cinder) Zinger is the one who is having surgery. He is
such a sweet cat, always purring. He sleeps with me every night
so it is sad without him here. I actually had a childhood cat that went through this same thing so I know they can come out of this and live a healthy life but it is hard while they are going through this. Our other two cats have just been wandering looking for Zinger. We all miss you Zinger!!

Cat Update

So the vet called and said he was able to get 2 of the 3 stones out of his bladder but 1 was stuck in his urethra (sp?) and he couldn't get it and so they have to call in a specialist to have another surgery tomorrow. Please pray that all goes well tomorrow.

Thanks!!

Update

It is officially summer here!! Today was the last day of school for the kids! Kyler is now a 4th grader and Branson is a 1st grader!! Yea!! They are very excited about the summer! It doesn't really feel like summer today. It is hot but the wind is blowing about 100mph. And it looks like it is going to rain. But at least we don't have to get up at 6am tomorrow!! :) Our cat had to go to the vet today. He has stones in his bladder so he is having surgery as we speak. We are all praying that everything goes well and that he feels better after his surgery! We have had him for 11 years so he is part of our family. I have lost another 3 pounds on my diet. This week it has really snowballed because I have not been eating out!! I realize now that I was having such a hard time because we eat out all the time until now! So I have lost a total of 8 pounds. I will reevaluate once I lose 2 more pounds. Thats it for now! Hope everyone is having a great week!!

My Dog and Cat - A Miracle

My cat...Zinger.... has never really liked my dog Kia! Over the last 10 years he has hissed at her probably a million times. The first 5 to 7 years would run from her if she just walked into a room and also the last 5 to 7 years when she was in the house he would be under a bed until she went outside. Now the last 3 years he has begun to accept Kia by not running when she walks in a room but does give very mean looks to her. He won't hide under the bed as much but does stay out of the same room from her and the hissing has also calmed down the last few years but it is always apparent that Zinger does NOT like Kia. Well yesterday I walked in my room and what do I find on Kia's bed?....both Kia and Zinger asleep together!!! I couldn't believe it!! I ran and got my camera but as I took the picture Kia jumped up from a sound sleep ( I did a post awhile back about Kia will not let me take a picture of her anymore, I think the flash hurts her ears) but I still got them on the bed together!! What a crazy world this can be! I guess if you hang around someone you don't like long enough you might just start to like them!!! Next thing you know they will be BFF's!!

Cinder our cat

Meet Cinder! She is 8 years old but she looks and acts like a kitten. We call her our eternal kitten. She is so cute and sweet and she always seems to just be bouncing around. She reminds me of a free spirit. She is always playing with something, a piece of paper, a ball, ect. Just thought you would like to meet her.
